Treatments

What can we treat?

Most health conditions can be treated with natural health care. Chronic, longstanding conditions as well as recent developments can be effectively treated. It is often useful if the doctor has ruled out any serious conditions that may be causing the symptoms, and has perhaps already done some blood tests. Whilst blood test results may be within the normal ranges, they may not be in the optimal range, which is where naturopaths will take action to get you feeling at your best. If you have any recent blood test results, bring them along to your consultation.

Conditions commonly treated include:

  • Digestive issues – food sensitivities, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, IBS, GORD/reflux
  • Hormonal issues – PMS, menopause, menstrual irregularities, endometriosis, mood changes, fertility issues, prostate health
  • Cognitive/mental health issues – memory problems, brain fog, headaches, migraines, mood problems, anxiety, depression, stress management, ADD/ADHD, autism, head injury recovery, nerve pain
  • Immune issues – food sensitivities/allergies, infections, autoimmune conditions, hay fever, asthma, recurrent thrush/urinary tract infections
  • Skin conditions – acne, eczema, dermatitis
  • Joint issues – arthritis, fibromyalgia, pain
  • Metabolic issues – diabetes, insulin resistance, thyroid conditions, fatigue
  • Preconception and pregnancy care
  • Sleep problems
  • Heart and liver health
  • Weight management

Treatment Methods

Treatment options included modifications to lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, relaxation, and sleep. Aspects that would benefit from improvement will be identified and then changes will be negotiated with you, so that you are able to implement them at a pace that suits you and won’t overwhelm you. Support will be provided as needed throughout your treatment. A quick email or phone call is often helpful to keep you motivated or just to clear up any concerns you may have.

Consultations

The first consultation will take at least an hour, often longer if your time permits. This is necessary to gain details of your lifestyle, family history, medical history, and any other factors that may influence your health. An extensive health questionnaire is completed prior to the first consultation to ensure all the basic health questions are covered, which will also highlight which body systems are in need of priority treatment. The more information about you that you can provide, the better the treatment I can provide.

Depending upon any current medications, you may be given herbs or supplements at the first consultation. If you are taking medications it is important to ensure any treatments will not interfere with them. This may require some research prior to any treatments being prescribed.

A summary of topics discussed during the consultation will be emailed to you. Often there is a lot of new information provided during consultations so having an email to refer back to is very helpful. Reliable sources of background information will be provided whenever possible, to further support your understanding of your own health.

Follow up consultations usually take 30 to 45 minutes and usually occur 2 weeks after treatment is commenced. This enables us to assess how treatment is progressing and to make any modifications required. The need and timing of further consultations will depend upon your particular health concerns and how quickly you wish to implement the treatment strategy.

Initial consultations are $140 (1 to 2 hours)

Follow up consultations of less than 45 minutes are $75

Follow up consultations of more than 45 minutes are $100

Testing available

In-house testing is available for basic heavy metal urine testing, standard urine dipstick tests, blood pressure, pulse oximeter, and body composition scales.

Using a bio-impedence analysis scale we are able to accurately determine your body fat, muscle, bone and water composition. This can be very helpful for those wanting to lose some weight as it can be used to determine your metabolic rate and give insight into your calorie requirements. We can track changes occurring from diet and exercise improvements, providing an extra source of motivation when external changes may be difficult to observe. Importantly, it also provides an indicator of the amount of fat around your vital organs (visceral fat). High levels of this type of fat are associated with increased risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.

Other testing is also available where appropriate, which is at additional cost. We are able to provide standard and functional pathology testing including blood, saliva, stool, and urine testing. Testing helps to correctly identify the factors impacting your health and therefore enables us to achieve improved outcomes as quickly as possible.
